Reading this site

WebBoar publishes static pages and an archive of W3C translations. You do not need an account or a location permission to read them. This notice covers these public reading pages, rather than a separately embedded chatbot on another website.

Analytics is optional

Google Analytics 4 loads only after you choose “Accept analytics”. Rejecting analytics does not limit reading. We save your choice in this host’s browser localStorage for 180 days. You can reopen Analytics settings at the bottom of every tracked page.

After consent we measure public page views, page type, scrolling to 50% and 90%, a reading milestone after 30 visible seconds, navigation between known pages and clicks to known external domains. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments. The referrer is reduced to its origin. Outbound events include a known domain, rather than the full link or its query parameters. Automatic enhanced measurement is disabled in the verified Google stream. We do not send contact details, search phrases, arbitrary URL values, precise coordinates or raw IP addresses as event parameters.

Google receives normal connection and browser information when its script is loaded. A network connection necessarily uses an IP address. Our event code does not add the address to the analytics payload. Google Analytics can report approximate geography and device information. Advertising storage, advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this code. We do not set a signed-in user identifier.

Cookies and changing your mind

Once accepted, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies with random browser identifiers. Our cookie setting is up to 90 days and may renew with use. The separate localStorage consent preference does not itself send analytics.

Choose “Reject analytics” in Analytics settings to stop our events, remove available Google Analytics cookies and reload without the analytics script. You can also clear the site’s data in your browser. An unavailable or blocked local store does not prevent reading; your choice then applies only to the current page.

Hosting and links

The host processes network requests and standard access logs to deliver and protect the site. Those logs are separate from Google Analytics. External sites have their own privacy practices.
